(6) Notifications in 2019 have surpassed the total number of notifications in the previous 5 years, noting that the 2019 influenza season began much earlier compared to previous seasons and influenza notifications have fluctuated above background levels since early 2019.

Clinical severity for the season to date, as measured through the proportion of patients admitted directly to ICU, and deaths attributed to influenza, is low.

(7) There have been 12 influenza-associated deaths in the ACT in 2019.
