project. We want to give the people of Canberra an opportunity to express their thoughts about this record infrastructure spend. If this is going to cost $783 million, not including staff, not including Northbourne remediation, not including park and ride, not including all sorts of other offsite works, we think it is right that the people of Canberra have a say.

This government does not have a mandate to deliver light rail. The government should spend the next year or two talking about light rail, consulting with the community about light rail and then allowing the people of Canberra to make an informed decision rather than going ahead based on a partisan deal done by the Chief Minister and Mr Rattenbury.
