Election of Deputy Speaker
MR SPEAKER: Members, standing order 4 requires that the Assembly proceed, at its first sitting after an election, to elect a Deputy Speaker.
MR HUMPHRIES (Leader of the Opposition): Mr Speaker, I propose Greg Cornwell and I move:
That Mr Cornwell be elected Deputy Speaker.
MR SPEAKER: Thank you, Mr Humphries. Mr Cornwell, do you accept the nomination?
MR CORNWELL: Mr Speaker, I accept the nomination.
MR SPEAKER: Are there any other proposals?
The time for proposals has expired. There being no further proposals, I declare Mr Cornwell, the member proposed, elected as Deputy Speaker.
