MR HIRD (12.39): I present the following report:

Planning and Urban Services-Standing Committee-Report No 59-Examination of allegations of possible improper influence of a witness, dated 17 October 2000, together with a copy of the extracts of the minutes of proceedings.

I move:

That the report be noted.

I have pleasure in tabling the committee's report today. This inquiry commenced on 25 May this year and it has been an especially sensitive inquiry. I understand that it is the first time that an Assembly standing committee rather than a select committee has been asked to look into a matter of this nature. To assist us, we consulted the then Acting Clerk on three occasions for advice about procedural and other aspects of the inquiry.
