Nursing Home Waiting Lists

Mrs Carnell - asked the Minister for Health:

Can the Minister inform the Assembly as to how many older people have been assessed by the Geriatric Assessment Team (GAT) as qualifying for nursing home placement but who remain on a nursing home waiting list?

Mr Berry - the answer to Mrs Carnell s question is:

The number of older people assessed by the Geriatric Assessment Team (GAT) and awaiting a place in a nursing home is 73.

These people are currently located at:

Woden Valley Hospital 11

Calvary Hospital 3

Hostels 7

Within the Community 15

Queanbeyan 8

Other Interstate Awaiting

Transfer (not assessed by ACT

GAT but assessed by GAT

interstate) 29

Total 73
