I know that in the Queensland Parliament - I have learnt this from visits to Queensland - Mr Wood was a prominent and noble backbencher during what must have been some of the worst years for anyone to be in a parliament. I am always delighted - never always satisfied, of course - with what Mr Wood says in this house, but I think he enshrines, still, the values that the Labor Party used to have in the Chifley era.
